Understanding Eating Disorders: A Nurse’s lens
This online workshop would be appropriate for professionals working with clients with disordered eating or eating disorders. These include, but are not limited to Psychologists, Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Registered Dieticians, Occupational Therapists and any other professionals interested in learning the impacts on the body.
About This Group
Join us for an insightful two day workshop designed for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and anyone interested in understanding eating disorders from a nursing perspective. This workshop will delve into the complexities of eating disorders, exploring their psychological, physical, and emotional dimensions. Day two will be focused primarily on the experience and insight from the facilitator. You will hear about her experience working with those who are impacted by an eating disorder.
In this two day workshop participants may gain a better understanding of:
Types of Eating Disorders: including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder.
Recognize Signs and Symptoms: Learn to recognize the physical and emotional indicators of eating disorders in patients, allowing for timely intervention.
Explore Underlying Factors: Discuss the psychological and environmental factors that contribute to the development of eating disorders, including trauma, societal pressures, and mental health.
Effective Communication Strategies: Develop skills to communicate empathetically and effectively with individuals impacted by an eating disorder, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Collaborative Care Approaches: Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and recovery, including the roles of dietitians, therapists, and social workers.
Who Should Attend: This workshop is ideal for nurses, healthcare professionals, mental health workers, educators, and anyone involved in caring for individuals impacted by an eating disorder.
This group will also leave time and space for participants to bring their own questions.

- Limited to a small number of participants allow everyone to participate fully.

Registered Nurse
Chantelle Jensen is a Registered Nurse based out of the Calgary area. She has 11 years experience nursing and has worked with Eating Disorders starting in 2012. Her nursing background includes inpatient Eating Disorders at Foothills Hospital, all levels of care associated with the Calgary Eating Disorder Program, Adolescent Mental Health, Addictions and Forensics. Chantelle holds certificates in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma informed care.
