Online Support Group

for People Experiencing Binge Eating Disorder or Binge Eating

This support group is open to ADULTS (18+) with all manner of disordered eating behaviour but is primarily focused for individuals struggling with binge eating. You do not need proof of diagnosis to enroll.

About This Group

Join Registered Dietitian Selene Yan for this 6-week online support group. Discuss what you want to discuss in this recovery-focused environment; come find support, connection, and “take up space” with us.

Topics covered may include (pending group interest):

  • cycle of restrict-binge eating
  • window of tolerance/ nervous system regulation
  • diet culture and binge-eating myths
  • supportive tips for meal time
  • food mindfulness
  • body image, body kindness, and body neutrality
  • self-compassion

PLEASE NOTE: This group is intended as support, and is not a substitute for treatment. We encourage you to speak with your Physician about treatment options specific to your circumstances.

EDSNA support groups are always:

  • Professionally-facilitated by people with extensive backgrounds in eating disorders.
  • Intended to support those wishing to continue on the path of recovery in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
  • Limited to a small number of participants to allow everyone to participate fully.

Individuals interested in participating DO NOT require proof of diagnosis. This group is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour.

Support Group Details

This group will meet on six (6) Thursdays. This is a multi-week group. Registration for this series includes all six (6) sessions.

Dates include:

  • February 8, 15, 22, 29
  • March 7, 14

Time:

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (18:30 – 20:30 MST)

Additional Information:

*A computer/laptop/tablet and internet access are required to participate. Please be sure to review your confirmation email carefully, as it contains the “Guidelines for Groups” document. The Zoom link to access the online sessions will be sent via email on the day of the first group.

**EDSNA does not want financial barriers to stop a participant from attending a support group. Please email info@EDSNA.ca to discuss your circumstances, as we may be able to reduce your fees, or waive them entirely.

About Your Facilitator

Selene Yan

Registered Dietitian

Selene is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor with over 10 years of experience. She specializes in working with eating disorders and body image concerns. She helps individuals tune inwards so they may better understand and attend to their body’s needs. Selene works from a trauma-informed and weight-inclusive lens. Her approach is guided by her training in mindfulness, yoga, embodied recovery, and somatic experiencing.
