Online Support Group for People Experiencing an Eating Disorder or Disordered Eating
This ONLINE support group is for anyone (18+) experiencing an eating disorder, disordered eating, and/or experiencing anxiety around food, eating, and body image.
You do not need proof of diagnosis to enroll.
This group is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour.
About This Group
Join Registered Psychologist Katie Poirier and Registered Dietitian Kalin Herbach in this 8-week online support group. Discuss what you want to discuss in this recovery-focused environment; come find support, connection, and “take up space” with us.
PLEASE NOTE: This group is intended as support, and is not a substitute for treatment. We encourage you to speak with your Physician about treatment options specific to your circumstances.
EDSNA support groups are always:
- Professionally-facilitated by people with extensive backgrounds in eating disorders.
- Intended to support those wishing to continue on the path of recovery in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
- Limited to a small number of participants to allow everyone to participate fully.
Individuals interested in participating DO NOT require proof of diagnosis. This group is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour.

This group will meet on eight (8) Wednesdays

- May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
This is a multi-week group. Registration for this series includes all eight sessions.
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (18:00 – 20:00 MST)

*A computer/laptop/tablet and internet access are required to participate. Please be sure to review your confirmation email carefully, and the information to download and use “Zoom”, as well as the “Guidelines for Groups” document will be in the email. The link to access the sessions will be sent closer to the start date of the group.
**EDSNA does not want financial barriers to stop a participant from attending a support group. Please email info@EDSNA.ca to discuss your circumstances, as we may be able to reduce your fees, or waive them entirely.
About Your Facilitators
Katie is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and also holds a Masters of Education degree. She has worked with clients who have experienced eating disorders, sexual assault/abuse (Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton), addictions and trauma. Katie believes in helping clients grow and flourish through a client-centered framework that emphasizes equality and empowerment. She brings compassion and humour to therapy to create a safe place for all to be heard. Her training background involves areas such as Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and Hakomi. Click here to learn more about Katie’s approach.
Kalin is a weight-inclusive Registered Dietitian and co-founder of The Nourish Collective. She specializes in eating disorder recovery, and also helps folks heal from disordered eating. She is deeply passionate about helping individuals replace judgement and punishment with compassion and curiosity. Kalin feels so grateful that she is able to do this work, and form meaningful relationships with her clients.
