Body Image and the New Year: Navigating Expectations and Embracing Self-Compassion Workshop
This ONLINE workshop is for anyone (18+) with an eating disorder, disordered eating,
and/or experiencing anxiety around food, eating, and body image.
**You do not need proof of diagnosis to enrol
**This workshop is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour
About This Workshop
The start of a new year often brings with it pressure to transform and “improve” oneself, especially when it comes to body image. For those impacted by an eating disorder/disordered eating, these societal expectations can be overwhelming and triggering. This workshop is designed to help individuals navigate the complexities of New Year’s resolutions and the often harmful “New year, New me” Mentality. Join Occupational Therapist Sara Kreklewich for an interactive presentation and facilitated discussion.
In this safe and supportive space, participants will:
- Explore the connection between the New Year’s pressure to change and the impact it has on self-esteem and body image.
- Learn practical tools to challenge societal beauty standards and reframe the narrative of transformation.
- Cultivate self-compassion techniques to navigate difficult thoughts and feelings surrounding body image.
- Develop strategies for creating realistic, resolutions that focus on health and well-being, not weight or appearance.
- Engage in group discussions to foster healing and self-acceptance.
This workshop is for anyone impacted by an eating disorder/disordered eating, body image concerns, or those who are impacted by body related anxiety. Together we will work on developing a more compassionate relationship with our bodies. We will focus on self-compassion, mental wellness, and the importance of accepting ourselves as we are, rather than striving for a fixed or “perfect” version.
Join us in redefining the New Year—transforming it into a time for healing, growth, and self-love.
