The Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta (EDSNA) is a not-for-profit

organization dedicated to providing compassionate support, education, and connection for individuals and families impacted by eating disorders. EDSNA focuses on system-level support and outreach.

The Opportunity

The Program Director leads EDSNA’s client programming and supports organizational outreach and awareness activities. Developing new programming, reviewing and enhancing existing offerings, engaging with the communities EDSNA serves, and identifying ways to better reach those in need of support are all components of this job.

If you are detail-oriented, a self-starter, team-oriented, and have a broad understanding of the complexity of eating disorders, this may be the role for you!

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Lead all stages of program development: creation, review, advertising, evaluation, revision, and reporting
  • Hire, onboard, and manage relationships with contracted group facilitators
  • Provide front-facing client support through the main email and phone line 
  • Review, revise, and updates to website (WordPress), and registration platforms (Jane, Eventbrite); support updates to other means of communication (social media, newsletter)
  • Participate in public awareness activities, including co-facilitation of presentations, presence at in-person events
  • Assist, with appropriate delegation as necessary, the planning and execution of small- and large-scale campaigns and events
  • Participate in annual budget development; strategic planning; forecasting
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to inform program and organizational decisions
  • Support -and lead where necessary- the grant writing process
  • Create and foster relationships with other like-minded individuals and organizations to assist in building a ‘net’ of eating disorder support in the province
  • Seek out outreach opportunities in the community that align with EDSNA’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members and volunteers, including recruitment, training, and supervising

What We Value

Must Haves:

  • Experience and/or education in a related field such as social work, psychology, public health, occupational therapy, nursing, non-profit management. 
  • Understanding of eating disorders– can include diagnostic criteria, complexity of accessing care, and diversity of experience across intersectionalities 
  • Excellent communication skills — strong written and verbal communication skills; strong public speaking skills
  • Experience and comfort with Google-based office applications, Canva, WordPress; understanding of MSOffice. Willingness to learn other platforms as needed
  • Willingness to assist with duties beyond the job description to ensure work is completed (within reason)- we are a very small team, so cooperation is essential
  • The ability to ‘roll with the punches’: action- and detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, compassionate; a lifelong learner at heart
  • Commitment to EDSNA’s mission and vision

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with marketing, communications, business administration
  • ASIST, QPR, or crisis de-escalation training (or similar)
  • Experience within a charity or non-profit organization
  • Event planning experience

Additional Details

Employment type: Permanent part time employee

Location: Flexible hybrid work schedule (includes in-office and remote work, as well as community activities)– applicants MUST reside in Greater Edmonton Area or Greater Calgary Area.

Remuneration: $23.00 to $25.00 / hour commensurate with skills and experience.
