About This Group

Join Registered Social Worker Mo Bamuwagun for this two day workshop that delves into the complex and often misunderstood relationship between trauma and eating disorders. We will explore how various forms of trauma—such as childhood, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse—can impact an individual’s relationship with food, body image, and self-worth. This workshop will help you to understand the neurobiology of trauma and its connection to eating disorders, highlighting both the psychological and physiological factors at play.

Participants will learn about the trauma responses that often underlie eating disorders, and how these mechanisms manifest in behaviors like restrictive eating, bingeing, or purging.

Key Takeaways:

– An understanding of the impact that trauma can have on eating behaviours and body image

– Insights into the connection between trauma responses and eating disorder symptoms

– Practical tools for trauma-informed care in eating disorder treatment

– Skills that can be used to help support individuals on their healing journey

Join us for this enlightening and empowering workshop as we explore the crucial intersection between trauma and eating disorders, and how to approach healing from a place of empathy and expertise.

This workshop is ideal for anyone impacted by an eating disorder/disordered eating, mental health professionals, caregivers, and individuals intersted in gaining a deeper understanding of the profound ways trauma and eating disorders intersect and how healing can be approached holistically and compassionately.
