Online Support Group for People Experiencing an Eating Disorder or Disordered Eating

This ONLINE support group is for anyone (18+) experiencing an eating disorder, disordered eating, and/or experiencing anxiety around food, eating, and body image.

You do not need proof of diagnosis to enroll.

This group is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour.

About This Group

Join Registered Psychologist Katie Poirier and Registered Dietitian Kalin Huberman in this 10-week online support group. Discuss what you want to discuss in this recovery-focused environment; come find support, connection, and “take up space” with us.

PLEASE NOTE: This group is intended as support, and is not a substitute for treatment. We encourage you to speak with your Physician about treatment options specific to your circumstances. We also ask that if you register, you commit to attending all 10 weeks to the best of your ability. 

EDSNA support groups are always:

  • Professionally-facilitated by people with extensive backgrounds in eating disorders.
  •  Intended to support those wishing to continue on the path of recovery in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
  • Limited to a small number of participants to allow everyone to participate fully.

Individuals interested in participating DO NOT require proof of diagnosis. This group is open to those with all manner of disordered eating behaviour.

Support Group Details

This group will meet on ten (10) Wednesdays. This is a multi-week group. Registration for this series includes all ten (10) sessions.

Dates include:

  •  October 9, 16, 23, 30
  • November 6, 13, 20, 27
  • December 4, 11

Time:

5:30 pm – 7:00 pm (17:30 – 19:00 MST)

Additional Information:

*A computer/laptop/tablet and internet access are required to participate. Please be sure to review your confirmation email carefully, as it contains the “Guidelines for Groups” document. The Zoom link to access the online sessions will be sent via email on the day of the first group.

**EDSNA does not want financial barriers to stop a participant from attending a support group. Please email info@EDSNA.ca to discuss your circumstances, as we may be able to reduce your fees, or waive them entirely.

About Your Facilitators

Kalin Huberman

Registered Dietitian

Kalin is a weight-inclusive Registered Dietitian and co-founder of The Nourish Collective. She specializes in eating disorder recovery, and also helps folks heal from disordered eating. She is deeply passionate about helping individuals replace judgement and punishment with compassion and curiosity. Kalin feels so grateful that she is able to do this work, and form meaningful relationships with her clients.

Katie Poirier

Registered Psychologist

Katie is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and has been working in the field for over 10 years. In this role, she believes her priority is to hold what is well in her clients and help them find what they want to flourish. Her particular passions and areas of specialty are in the realm of eating disorders, sexual assault/abuse, and trauma. Katie believes in helping clients grow and flourish through a client-centered framework that emphasizes equality and empowerment. She brings compassion and humour to therapy and strives to create an open and collaborative space for all to be heard. Outside of her client work, Katie values spending time with her partner & three kiddos (twins plus one!), as well as leaning into her creative outlets.  Although Katie calls Alberta home, her roots are in New Brunswick and she wears that proudly!
